MCC Bank celebrates Konkani Manyatha Divas
Mangaluru: Konkani Manyatha Divas was celebrated at the P.F.X Saldanha Auditorium, Administrative Office of the MCC Bank Ltd., on August 15, 2024, to commemorate the inclusion of Konkani language in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The program was presided over by the chairman, Sahakara Ratna, Mr Anil Lobo. Mr Ronald Rodrigues, vice president of Pastoral council of Valencia Church, was the guest of honour. He inaugurated the program by hoisting the Konkani flag. Mr Jerald J. D’silva, Vice Chairman of the Bank, and Mr Sunil Menezes, General Manager, Members of Karnataka Sahithya Academy, Mr Naveen Lobo, Mr Ronald Crasta, and Mrs Sapna Cratsa were on the dias.

In his key note address, chairman Sahakara Ratna, Mr Anil Lobo, expressed the significance of celebrating Konkani Manyatha Divas. Being a leading cooperative bank in the coastal region of Karnataka, the bank has a responsibility towards society and will always encourage the rich cultural heritage of the Konkani language.
Various Konkani cultural programs were conducted by Sunil Siddhi & team, Nach Sobhann, Kudmi Nach Pongod, and Summel.
The directors and staff members who celebrated silver or golden birthdays during the months from January to August 2024 were honoured by Sahakara Ratna, Mr Anil Lobo.
The children of the Directors and Staff members who have excelled in Curricular and co-curricular activities were felicitated by the Chairman, Sahakara Ratna, Mr Anil Lobo.
The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy members, viz., Mr Ronald Crasta, Mrs Sapna Crasta, Mr Naveen Lobo, and Mr Sunil Siddi, were recognised for their presence with a bouquet, shawl, and memento.
The “indefatigable crusader” of Konkani, Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratna, Mr Eric Ozario, was felicitated with shawl, garland and fruits for his tireless work towards preserving the culture and heritage of Konkani. Mrs Irene Lobo read the Mann part and handed it over to Mr Eric Ozario.
In response to the felicitation, Mr Eric Ozario thanked the bank for honouring him. He praised the chairman, Mr Anil Lobo, for his creative & thought-provoking ideas towards celebrating Konkani Manyatha Divas. He called upon the gathering to support MCC Bank, as it supports the artists and well-wishers.

Rodrigues, Mr Roshan Dsouza, Mrs Irene Rebello, Dr Freeda Dsouza, Mr David Dsouza, Mr Herald Monteiro, Dr Gerald Pinto, Mr Anil Patrao, Mr Vincent Lasrado, Mr Melwin Vas, Mr Elroy Crasta, Mr C.G. Pinto, Mr Sushanth Saldanha, Mr Felix Dcruz, Mr Alwyn P. Monteiro, Deputy General Manager, Raj F. Menezes and all the staff members were present for the celebration.
