Maundy Thursday observed in Milagres Church, Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Maundy Thursday, the mass of the Last Supper, Holy Thursday are some of the names this day is known by. Holy Mother Church begins the celebration of the Paschal Triduum today. We closely reflect the infinite love and mercy of God depicted through the total self-emptying sacrifice of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
On this day Christ washed the feet of his disciples, broke his body, shed his blood to reconcile us to the Father and one another. Priests on this day symbolically imitate Christ by washing the feet of men, women and children who represent the members of the church. It is an action which calls us and challenges us to lead lives of love and service.
The parishioners of Milagres celebrated this holy day along with the priests and religious of the parish. Fr Maxim D’Souza celebrated the mass and all the other priests concelebrated with him.
