Mangalore Diocesan NGO CODP Celebrates Golden Jubilee
Mangaluru: CODP, a Mangalore Diocesan NGO, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of its existence on May 28, 2024, at St. Sebastian Centenary Hall. The celebration was presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldhana, Bishop of Mangalore. The co-celebrants were Rt. Rev. Dr Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimogga. Rt. Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza, emirates bishop of Mangalore; Rt. Rev. Dr. Jerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; the priests of the city; and the Episcopal Deanery were present. Religious sisters and 300 faithful took part in the Eucharistic at Bendur Church.
The celebration began at the Bendur church hall with a prayer dance, performed by Remona Pereira and team. The President of the Function, Rt. Rev. Dr. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, honored the “Moga Nolo” donors of the housing scheme. Bishop Jerald of Udupi Diocese felicitated the past Directors. The founder Secretary Monsignor Edwin Pinto, was felicitated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha. Mr. Michael Dsouza, who donated Rs. 1,82,75,000, was honored. Two documentaries on CODP housing for the poor were screened at the time of the celebration.
The CODP Golden Jubilee was marked with the special event of 75 new houses for the poor and 55 families for repairs. Parishes who donated the highest amount and family-wise contribution were honored in his presidential speech. The President, Bishop Peter, spoke of CODP as shedding tears for the poor and the sorrowful. Patricia CODP, past secretary, proposed a vote of thanks. The program was compared by Mrs. Irene Rebello and Mr. Francis Dcunha. The present secretary and the staff, Mrs Nikeeta and Mr Praveen, managed the program under the supervision of Fr. Vincent Dsouza, Secretary CODP.
