Lourdes Central School, kindergarten, celebrates Grand Parents Day

Mangaluru: Grandparents Day is a special occasion dedicated to honoring and celebrating the important role they play in families and communities.

The day serves to recognize the wisdom, love, and guidance that grandparents provide. It emphasizes the importance of intergenerational connections and the positive impact of grandparents on the lives of their grandchildren.

Lourdes Central School kindergarten celebrated grandparents’ day on August 17, 2024, at Bejai church hall.

The dignitaries of the day were Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Manager LCS; Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira, Principal LCS; Chief Guest Dr Meenakshi Ramachandran, Guest of honour Prof. Ramachandra; and Rev. Fr Norman Mathias, Asst. Parish Priest, Bejai Church; Mr Mohammed Riyaz, Vice President PTEC.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song, followed by a welcome dance. The students of play school, KG1 and KG2, mesmerised the grandparents with their heart-touching performances through dance drama, singing, and action songs. Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira introduced the chief guest to the gathering, and both the chief guest and guest of honour were felicitated by the dignitaries.

Ma’am Lavita kept the crowd occupied through various games, and all the grandparents present actively took part in them. Winners were felicitated by the dignitaries.

Chief Guest Dr Meenakshi Ramachandran expressed her appreciation for the little ones for their fantastic performances and congratulated the school for conducting such programmes. She said it’s a beautiful way to instill love and respect for the older generation. She advised the grandparents to cope with the present generation, not to think negatively about anything, but instead to have a positive mindset and enjoy every moment with their grandchildren.

Addressing the gathering, President Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha. said that the school is extremely happy to have the senior gems of our society and wished them good health and happiness for the years to come. He urged the grandparents to teach their little ones to light a lamp in the evening and also to say a prayer together.

It was totally a child-oriented programme which concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a photo session and refreshments. As a token of gratitude, all the grandparents were given a takeaway, which made their day complete.

Overall, it was a beautiful day, spreading happy and positive vibes around.
