Lourdes Central School holds ‘LCS SUMMIT 2024’
Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School organised the honouring ceremony of student achievers of classes X and XII on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 9.00 a.m. in Bejai Church Hall.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were the Chief Guest, Ms P. Vinitha Sekhar, Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore; Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr Robert Dsouza, Former Principal LCS; Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Manager LCS; Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, Principal; Ms Belita Mascarenhas and Ms Anitha Thomas, Vice Principals; Rev. Fr Norman Mathias, Assistant Parish Priest; Mr Ashok Pinto, Vice President; and Ms Cynthia A Pinto, Secretary, Bijai Parish Pastoral Parishad, escorted by Head Boy H. Adesh Rao and Head Girl Diya Yashodhar. The programme began with a delightful welcome dance performed by the students of classes IX to XI. This was followed by the prayer song sung by the school choir, creating a divine ambience. The principal, Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, accorded a ceremonial welcome to the venerated guests, parents, and student achievers and introduced the chief guest, Ms P. Vinitha Sekhar. The school toppers of Classes X and XII were honored by the dignitaries.
It was a special moment to felicitate the Guest of Honour Rev. Fr Robert Dsouza, as a token of love and appreciation. Rev. Fr Robert Dsouza, the former principal, spoke on this grand occasion and said that he was thankful for the spectacular performances of the achievers. He stated that every Lourdite showed discipline and was the best product of LCS. He urged the students to face life’s challenges, come out with flying colors, and take LCS to further heights. He wished the manager, principal, and staff success in their future plans and projects; thanked the parents; and wished the principal all the best and to take LCS to new heights.
The achievers of class XII were felicitated by the dignitaries. Raksha N. Shettigar of Class XII shared her experience.
The Chief Guest, Ms P. Vinitha Sekhar, Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore, was felicitated by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest expressed in her keynote address that she was overwhelmed to be a part of the programme and congratulated the students for the welcome dance and the prayer song. She spoke about her success story and said that her path was clear but not easy, and she learned from her failures, which were her stepping stones to success, because she cherished her failures as much as her success. She told the students to be determined and focused in life and not to fall for social media. She congratulated the toppers and achievers for their marvelous performances.
This was followed by the award ceremony for students who scored 90% or above in class X. Shreevaishnavi N of class X shared her experience.
The manager, Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, specified in his presidential address three words: respect, responsibility, and reaching excellence. He told the students to respect and care for their parents till the end and behave responsibly, as the education they receive is for their family, society, and nation.
Ms Sharmila Colaco delivered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the singing of the school anthem. Rishika Ballal of class IXC and Hayyan Mohidin of class IXD compered the programme.
