Konkani Lekhak Sangh’s Literary Award to be conferred on Dr Gerald Pinto on February 17

Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka – A voluntary association exclusively formed with the sole intention of promoting Konkani language and literature in 2018. In 2022, Konkani Lekhak Sangh decided to select and honour a Konkani writer who has immensely contributed to Konkani literature.

For the year 2024, the Konkani Lekhak Sangh award committee has selected a well-known Konkani writer, Dr Gerald Pinto (Gerry Niddodi).

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 25000/-, a citation, and a memento.

Dr Gerald Pinto served as the President of the Catholic Sabha, Central Committee, and Editor of ‘Amcho Sandesh’. He is the recipient of the Danthy Memorial Award, the Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award, the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award, the Daiji Dubai Literary Award, the Divo Sahitya Award, and the Amcho Sandesh Silver Jubilee Award. He has also served as the Director of ‘Manasa’ Pamboor. He has served as Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur, Udupi. Presently, he is the Director of MCC Bank Ltd., Mangalore.

He has written six novels, 75 short stories, and more than 900 articles on different subjects.

The award will be conferred at a function on February 17,2024, at 6.30 p.m. at Sandesha Premises, Sandesha Foundation, Bajjodi, Mangaluru.
