Kanakadasa Jayanthi celebrated at Lourdes Central School, Mangaluru.
Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School, Bejai—Mangaluru celebrated Kanakadasa Jayanthi—the birth anniversary of Kanakadasa as a commemoration to the great poet, saint, philosopher, composer, and musician.
Kanakadasa holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Karnataka and is still remembered for his Keerthanas and Carnatic music compositions in the Kannada language. Karnataka observes this day as a state holiday each year to pay tribute to this great saint.
The students of classes 5 to 9 presented a beautiful programme during the morning assembly. They highlighted the values and teachings of Kanakadasa.








Keerthanas-devotional song and songs with social message were performed by the students of class 5.
A floral tribute was offered to the portrait of the Kanakadasa by the Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira, Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas, teachers, and students. Principal in his message, asked the students to inculcate the values of Kanakadasa in their daily lives. The programme concluded with the school anthem.
