Jyothi Pradhan and Farewell Programme held at Lourdes Central School, Bejai
Mangaluru: Au Revoir, the celebrated Jyothi Pradhan and Farewell Programme of the batch of 2024—Class X and XII—was held on February 1st, 2025, in the Bijai Church hall.
The programme commenced with a photo session on the school campus, after which the students were escorted to the Bijai Church hall by the school band. Students of class IX welcomed the gathering with melodious songs followed by beatboxing by Aryan Hassan of class IX C. After a short prayer, teachers Ms Reema D’Souza, Ms Gretta Menezes, and Mr Girish Suvarna took over the floor with icebreaking and fun games. The students were led down memory lane with PPT presentations prepared by Ms Chandini Chitraveer and Mr Girish Suvarna. The audience was entertained by some foot-tapping dances by students of class IX who were trained by Ms Shamitha Machado and Ms Sonia. Class IX choir sang a sweet wishing song to bid farewell to their seniors. The cultural Programme came to an end with the principal’s address. The MCs of the programme were Anika Shetty and Daiwik Bhandary of class IXB.
The MC of the formal Programme Ms Sharmila Colaco, invited the dignitaries: Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Manager of LCS; Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, Principal of LCS; and Rev. Fr Norman Mathias, Assistant Parish Priest, Bijai; Vice Principals Ms Belita Mascarenhas and Ms Anita Thomas to occupy the dais.


















A prayerful ambience was created by the choir with a prayer song. Scripture readings from the Bible, Bhagavad Gita, and Koran were read by Ms Shaila Pereira, Ms Gowri Ravi, and Ms Deepa D’Souza. Prayer intentions were put forward by Ms Anita Menezes, Ms Jayshree, Ms Sreelatha, Mr Girish Suvarna, Esther Fernandes of class X A, and Ritu Menezes of class XII A.
Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and also offered a few words of advice to the outgoing batch of students.
Light has always been a symbol of goodness, knowledge, and wisdom. The dignitaries and the class teachers lit the lamp, which is at the center of the Jyothi Pradhan programme. The class teachers lit the lamps of the class representatives. The Head Girl, Diya N. Yashodhar, led the students in administering the pledge to be loyal to the ‘Alma Mater.’. This was followed by the school anthem.




















Chalitha C. Bhat of XC and Saanvi Shenoy of XIIA shared their experiences at LCS and expressed their gratitude to the management and staff for all the learning experiences and values imbibed in molding them to become what they are at present.
On behalf of the staff, Ms Linet D’Souza expressed appreciation and gratitude for all the good memories created together. Teachers sang a song to bless the students and wish them well.




































The Principal, Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, thanked his first outgoing batch for excelling in academics, sports, and cultural activities and making LCS the most talked-about school in town. He encouraged the students to believe in themselves and to overcome all obstacles by quoting the example of Arunima Sinha. He exhorted them to embrace hard work, as there are no shortcuts to success.
The manager, Rev. Fr John Baptist Saldanha, in his address to the 271 outgoing students, challenged them to pick up and practice one value or virtue from their parents for guaranteed success in life. He encouraged them to live for others, as a life lived for oneself is meaningless.
Vice Principal Ms Anita Thomas announced the names of the winners of the Lourdes Olympiad. Winners were honoured with certificates by the manager and principal. The academic achievers at the school level were also felicitated. The memorable programme wound up with Baila, followed by a sumptuous lunch.
