International Yoga Day Programme by NSS and Sports Association of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru

Mangaluru: June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day since 2015. This day was celebrated today by keeping in mind the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’all over India.

The NSS units in association with Sports association of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru observed the International Yoga Day.The resource person for the program was Sri Yogarathna Gopalakrishna Delampady, a professional yoga guru, practitioner and trainer. Sri Gopalkrishna is a district Rajyostava Awardee and a retired Senior Health Inspector. He is the Founder and Coordinator of Delampady Yoga Prathistana, Mangalore.

The program began at 3.30 p.m. The practical session was attended by a total of 120 students from the NSS units and the sports association. The Yoga Session was conducted by Sri Gopalakrishna and his team. The session began with the prayer following the protocol for the celebration of International Yoga Day. Sri Gopalakrishnaenlightened the gathering by highlighting various aspects of Yoga and its influence on both body and mind. He explained the importance of yoga in daily life for maintaining a peaceful and healthy living. He, along with his team members, demonstrated and also helped the participants practice some important yoga asanas, which will help them in developing concentration abilities and living a tension free life in future. He also distributed brochures of Yoga protocol among the participants for future reference. The session ended with Sarva Shanti Mantra.

The program was also attended by Mrs. Vidya Patali, Mrs. Vinitha N. T., NSS Program officers and Mrs. Vasudha S., Physical Education Instructor, Sports Association.

The MC for the program was Miss Ishika from Second B.Sc. degree class and welcome speech & introduction of the resource person was done by Miss Likitha, a third year B.C.A. degree class Student.

The Program ended at 4.45 p.m. with the vote of thanks proposed by Miss Venessa , a second year degree B.Com. student.
