International Yoga Day held at Aloysius (Deemed to be University)
Mangaluru: The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21st at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore. Delampadi Yoga Foundation, Avishkar Yoga, and Decathlon, in collaboration with the Student Activity Cell of the college, the Physical Education Department, NCC, NSS, the Youth Red Cross, and students of the yoga team, organized this event together.
Yogathajna Kushalappa Gowda was the chief guest for the programme. He said that physical and mental health can be maintained through yoga. Everyone should incorporate yoga into their daily routine.
The yoga director of Delampadi Yoga Pratisthan, Mrs. Neeta Shetty, gave proper guidance to perform many yoga asanas along with the yoga students of the university, Roshani Shenoy, Sanvi Shetty, and Sumedha.
Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, SJ, Vice Chancellor of the University, presided over the programme. He said that everyone should engage in yoga for a stress-free life, and along with formal education, the university is also giving much importance to yoga. Dr. Alwyn D’Sa, registrar, was present for the programme. NCC Cadets of various organizations took part in this program. Lt Col Gratian Sequeira, Commanding Officer, 18 Karnataka Battalion, Mangalore, and Wing Commander Praveen Bishnoi, Commanding Officer, 6 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC, Mangalore, were present.
Program Coordinator Dr. Ishwara Bhat welcomed the gathering and gave the introductory remarks. Mr. Arun D’Souza, Director of Physical Education, proposed the vote of thanks. Roshani Shenoy compered the programme.
