International Yoga Day Celebrated at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru
Mangaluru, June 21, 2025: “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” Since its global recognition in 2015, June 21 has been observed worldwide as International Yoga Day, celebrating the deep connection between individual well-being and planetary health. In alignment with this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, commemorated the occasion with enthusiasm and commitment.
The event was jointly organized by the NSS units, NCC Wings, and the Sports Association of the college. It aimed to promote awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga and its role in fostering both personal health and environmental harmony.

A major highlight of the program was a practical yoga session conducted by Mr. Kushalappa Gowda, a renowned yoga therapist, practitioner, and trainer from Mangaluru. Around 115 students from NSS, NCC, and the Sports Association actively participated in the session, which began with a solemn prayer following the official International Yoga Day protocol.
Mr. Gowda engaged the participants with insightful explanations on the philosophy and practice of yoga, emphasizing its physical, mental, and emotional benefits. He guided students through a series of essential asanas designed to improve concentration, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. His practical approach and emphasis on incorporating yoga into daily life left a lasting impact on all attendees.
The event was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Uday Kumar and Mrs. Preetha (NSS Program Officers), Lt. Gayathri BK (NCC Army Wing), Flying Officer Dr. Hithakshi (NCC Air Wing), and Dr. Tangarani, Physical Culture Instructor of the Sports Association.
The celebration not only promoted physical and mental wellness but also underscored the importance of unity, cultural engagement, and sustainable living. Events like these inspire students to embrace yoga as a lifelong practice, fostering balance between mind, body, and nature.
The program concluded with a token of appreciation presented to Mr. Gowda, followed by the National Anthem, evoking a strong sense of unity and patriotism among the participants.
