ICYM Mangalore Diocese to celebrate 75th Year of Existence on June 12
The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Central Council, Diocese of Mangalore is all set to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee at Vamanjoor church hall, on June 12, 2022.
The ICYM is regarded as the largest Premier Catholic Youth Movement. The patron of ICYM is St Gonsalo Garcia, who is considered the model for youth to lice youthfully with enthusiasm. ICYM has relentlessly served, involved and responded creatively by journeying with the youth. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore diocese, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Director, Jaison Lawrence Crasta, President, Blairil Vishma D’Cunha, General Secretary and Dexco of the year 2021-2022 will grace the ICYM Mangalore Diocese’s 75th year of existence. The occasion will be marked by a grand celebration consisting of felicitation, cultural programmes by the youth and other interesting events.
The prime aim of ICYM is ‘To Lead, To Serve, To Shine’. Speaking in the press meet, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Director, ICYM Mangalore diocese, spoke of the exemplary initiatives undertaken by the youth. They have diligently served the public during the trying times of the pandemic by donating essential items, voluntarily taking part in the blood donation camps and even thoughtfully contributing towards donating hair for the cancer patients, he said.
“The youth are filled with immense zeal and passion with the objective of serving the society. They have purposefully helped in serving the society. They are tirelessly working towards helping society to become a better place,” he added.
A total of 124 churches in Mangalore Diocese are expected to take part in the event.
Jaison Lawrence Crasta, the President ICYM Mangalore diocese, Elsita Cardoza, PRO, ICYM Mangalore diocese and Executive Committee member Pradeep Rosario were present at the press meet.
