Hindi Diwas Celebrated at St. Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The Hindi Association of St. Aloysius Pre-University College celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm and reverence in Loyola Hall. The event aimed to honor the language and recognize its rich cultural heritage, fostering a deeper appreciation for Hindi among students.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song by Vaishnavi and her team from the second year PUC, setting a serene tone for the celebration. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. A vibrant welcome dance was presented by Khushi, a second-year student. Maaz Altaf, Secretary of the Hindi Association, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the Hindi language in unifying the nation and preserving its cultural identity.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Parshuram Ganapati Malage, a guest lecturer at Besant Women’s College, spoke eloquently about the growing relevance of Hindi in modern India and its role in bridging diverse communities. Dr. Archana Shenoy from the Department of Hindi, St. Aloysius PU College, served as the resource person. She highlighted the intricate relationship between language, culture, and identity. Dr. Archana was felicitated by the Hindi Department of the college for her academic achievement in earning her PhD, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.

As part of the Hindi Diwas festivities, the college had organized a Hindi Week, featuring competitions such as Rangoli, Calligraphy, Hindi Group Song, and Collage. The winners of these events were recognized and awarded by the Chief Guest.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bhavani, a first-year student. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira SJ, was present on the occasion.

Ms. Geetha Shastry and Mr. Inas Dais from the Department of Hindi coordinated the event. Janice D’Souza from the second year compered the programme.

The Hindi Diwas celebration at St. Aloysius Pre-University College was a resounding success, instilling a sense of pride in the Hindi language and fostering a deeper appreciation for its role in Indian culture and heritage.
