Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Celebrates World Homoeopathy Day 2025

Mangaluru, May 2, 2025: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College celebrated World Homoeopathy Day 2025 with great enthusiasm, commemorating the 270th birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy.

The formal inauguration of the event took place at 9:30 a.m. in the college auditorium. Dr. Reju Kareem, a distinguished alumnus from the 2000 UG batch, BHMS, MD (Hom), and former President of IHK, Kerala State, was the Guest of Honour. Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the program.

The celebration began with the garlanding of busts—Rev. Fr Coelho garlanded the bust of Rev. Fr Augustus Muller, while Dr. Reju Kareem honored Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. The prayer song marked the start of the ceremony, and Dr. Jenita Fernandes, the convener, escorted the dignitaries to the dais, including Rev. Fr Faustine L Lobo (Designate Director & Administrator, FMHMC&H), Dr. E.S.J. Prabhu Kiran (Principal), and Dr. Vilma Meera Dsouza (Vice Principal).

Dr. Prabhu Kiran welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guest of Honour. The dignitaries inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp. Winners of various competitions held in view of World Homoeopathy Day were recognized and awarded during the event.

In his address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo emphasized the importance of celebrating the contributions of Dr. Hahnemann and advocated promoting Homoeopathy through mass media and government-led initiatives. He reaffirmed the principle of “like cures like” and the value of this mild and effective system of medicine.

The Dr. Mukesh Batra Homoeopathy Scholarship Awards were also presented on the occasion. The Gold Scholarship went to Ms. Jeena Rosily Joy, the Silver to Ms. Anna Johnson, and the Bronze to Ms. Sandra Shruthi S., all presented by Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo.

Dr. Reju Kareem was felicitated with a memento by the Director. In his presidential address, Rev. Fr Richard Coelho praised the growing popularity of Homoeopathy due to its cost-effectiveness and minimal side effects. He emphasized the need for holistic well-being, combining medicine, meditation, and spiritual values.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jenita Fernandes, and the inauguration program concluded with the Institution Anthem. Dr. B Leisha Mae and Mr. Joe Paul compered the program.

Post-event, Dr. Reju Kareem engaged in an interactive session with students, sharing insights from his professional journey that began at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.
