Episcopal City Deanery Launches 3-Day Bible-Based Cultural Competitions During Lenten Season
Mangaluru: Diocese of Mangalore, In line with the Catholic Church’s celebration of the Jubilee Year 2025 under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” the Episcopal City Deanery of the Diocese of Mangalore has initiated a three-day Bible-based spiritual and cultural festival aimed at spiritual renewal during the Lenten season.

The inauguration took place on Sunday at the open grounds of St. Joseph Seminary, Jeppu. The event was officially inaugurated by Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha of Mangalore Diocese, who flagged off the series of competitions. The unique event features Bible-based short play presentations and hymn-singing competitions, with participation from 11 parishes within the Episcopal City Deanery.
The primary aim of this event is to strengthen community bonds and encourage a renewed commitment to living according to the Gospel.
“Those who live by the Word of God experience joy and peace in their lives. The Word of God is not just text; it is a way of life,” said Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha during his address.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Vicar General Rev. Msgr. Maxim L. Noronha, Chancellor Fr. Victor George D’Souza, Rector of Jeppu Seminary Fr. Ronald Serrao, PRO Fr. J.B. Saldanha, Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Fr. Walter D’Souza, Fr. J.B. Crasta, Fr. Eric Crasta, Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo, Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth, and Media Coordinator Elias Fernandes.
