Enriching Sessions on Holistic Education at St Agnes PU College, Mangaluru
Mangaluru: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically,” said Martin Luther King Jr. With focus, faith, and commitment, the dedicated and resourceful faculty of St Agnes PU College organized two-day holistic education sessions on July 10th and 11th, 2024, for students in the college.
Mrs Shobha Jacintha D’Souza, a counselor at St Agnes CBSE School, conducted a session on the POCSO Act to raise awareness among the students on their rights and how to seek legal help in adverse situations.
A thought-provoking session on self-awareness by Sr Janet, the vice principal, inspired the students to realize that true greatness comes from determination, dedication, and discipline rather than external features.
Mrs Chaithanya provided valuable insights on how women need to carve out time for exercise and meditation. She emphasized the need to develop resilience and courage, as they are fundamental to shaping women’s lives.
Sessions on overcoming setbacks and developing leadership skills were conducted by Mrs Lovina, Mr Ashwin, and Mr Mathew, respectively. These sessions aimed to encourage introspection, boost self-confidence, and equip students with the requisite life skills to face daily challenges and emerge as leaders.
Students actively participated in action songs, creative activities, and interactive discussions. This program proved to be an enriching experience, focusing on self-reflection and fostering a positive environment. The holistic approach contributed immensely to the students’ overall development and well-being.
A transformative retreat initiated by “Missionary Families of Christ: Defending Faith, Family, and Life” was also held on the same dates. The event, organized to strengthen spiritual foundations and communal bonds, was warmly welcomed and introduced by Sr Norine DSouza, setting a tone of unity and devotion.
Brother Binoy Peters and his team led insightful sessions, providing biblical perspectives and practical advice on living out faith in everyday life. The retreat proved to be a spiritually enriching experience, fostering deeper connections among participants and equipping families with tools to defend their faith, uphold family values, and cherish the sanctity of life. The collective commitment to love, identity, chastity, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit resonated strongly throughout the event, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
