Mangaluru: The Eighth Day Novena prior to the Feast of St Lawrence was held at Bondel Church, Mangaluru.

Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto, Administrator/Professor, St Joseph Seminary Jeppu was the main celebrant, Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza and Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto MSIJ concelebrated the mass.
Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto, in his homily, said, “For the Word of God is life-changing, life-sustaining, and life-giving. Living by the Word of God is an important part of being a Christian. If we want a life filled with the fruit of God, we must spend time daily in the Word of God. Because apart from God, we can do nothing.”
“When God judges our lives (like a flood hitting a house), the only houses that will not fall are ones that have been built and founded on the rock of Jesus Christ’s words. Matthew 7:24–28: The wise man is the believer whose life is built upon the rock of Christ; in this world he has faith and hope, and in the next everlasting life and love, The houses of which Jesus speaks indicate our hope for the future”.

“Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Mary is an inspiration and a model for us to listen to the word of God and live it. She opened her heart to listen to God’s words” .
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. This promise of rest that Jesus offers is a rest that He freely gives to all who will come to Him for salvation.
Special prayers were offered for the intentions of all those who are working abroad. The melodious choir was from Derebail Adult Choir under the leadership of Mr Valerian.
