Dr Edward Nazareth felicitated on his Golden journey in Konkani literature

Mangaluru: ‘By his innumerable Konkani writings on health and by his valuable books, Dr. Edward Nazareth has educated people to understand the illness and live a healthy life. His heart touching short stories, picturizing common people of our society, have shown his empathy to our people. He is truly ‘People’s Doctor, said Mr. Stany Alvares. President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy felicitating Dr. Edward Nazareth, renowned orthopaedic surgeon of Mangalore, on 15th September 2024, at Sandesha, Mangalore. Mr. Stany Alvares presided over the celebration of the golden jubilee of literary service of Dr. Edward Nazareth, organized by the Karnataka Konkani Writers’ Association. 

Rev. Fr. Michael Santhumayor, Principal of Milagrace College, Mangalore, who was the chief guest, also applauded the service of Dr. Edward Nazareth to the Konkani literature by writing on health, short stories, and novels.

Mr. Dolphy Lobo, the writer and editor, and Mrs. Lavina Tara Mascarenhas (Lavi, Ganjimatt), a Konknai writer, presented papers on Dr. Edward Nazareth’s literary work.

Replying to the felicitation, Dr. Edward Nazareth thanked the editors of all the periodicals that supported him by publishing his literature and people who bought his books. Ten books on health issues, five short story collections, and two novels by Dr. Edward Nazareth are published so far.

‘Registananthem Phul’, a translated biography written by Mrs. Flavia Albuqurke, was released at the programme. The book was introduced by Dr. Joer Noronha.

Mr. Richard Moras, convenor of the Konkani Writers’ Association, presented the accounts of the association for the last financial year. Mr. Rony Crasta, Mr. Naveen Bajal, and Mrs. Swapna Crasta, the members of Konkani Sahitya Academy, were felicitated.

Mr. Henry Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Mr. Edmond Preetham proposed the vote of thanks. 

Editors of several Konkani periodicals and eminent Konkani writers were present.
