Day 4 of Tredicina at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu Invites Faithful to Embrace the Lonely as Pilgrims of Hope
Mangaluru, June 3: The fourth day of the Tredicina devotion in honour of St Anthony of Padua was marked with prayerful participation at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. The day’s theme, “Reach Out to the Lonely and Walk as Pilgrims of Hope,” resonated deeply with the faithful, reminding them of the Christian call to accompany those who feel forgotten or isolated.
At Milagres Church, the evening novena Mass at 6:00 PM was celebrated by Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha, Parish Priest of Bejai Church, Mangalore. In his homily, Fr Saldanha highlighted the need to recognise and comfort those who live in loneliness — be it the elderly, abandoned, or grieving — encouraging the faithful to become signs of God’s presence in their lives. He pointed to St Anthony’s compassionate ministry as a model of mercy, outreach, and healing.
The Mass was concelebrated by Fr J. B. Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Vivian Rodrigues, Assistant Director of the Ashram.

After the Mass, Fr Vivian Rodrigues led the novena devotion, placing before the altar the heartfelt prayers and petitions of the gathered devotees. The solemn litany, intercessory prayers, and traditional hymns created an atmosphere of grace and trust in the powerful intercession of St Anthony, the Miracle Worker.
Meanwhile, St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, continued to serve hundreds of pilgrims with Masses at 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM, followed by a free meal for all, in keeping with the Ashram’s long-standing tradition of charity.
