Cultural and Community Group, SJEC Celebrates Teachers Day 2024 on the Campus

Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) marked Teachers’ Day with a grand celebration at the Kalam Auditorium. On September 5th, 2024. The event, organized by the Cultural and Community Group of SJEC, commenced at 4:00 PM, bringing together faculty and students in a heartfelt tribute to educators.

The program began with Ms. Deona Rego, the event’s emcee, inviting the college choir to invoke the blessings of the almighty with a prayer song. Following this, Dr. Rio Dsouza, Principal, SJEC, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Teachers’ Day, celebrated in honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s former president and revered philosopher, was commemorated by the dignitaries who paid their respects by offering flowers to his portrait. Dr Radhakrishnan’s legacy as an exemplary educator was remembered with reverence.

Ms. Lisha, a third-year student from the Electronics and Communication Engineering department, delivered a moving speech highlighting the significance of Teachers’ Day and the crucial role educators play in shaping the lives of the students.

The Chief Guest, Dr. John Edward D’Silva, Chief Administrative Officer, shared inspiring anecdotes from his years as a teacher. He urged faculty to remain compassionate towards students and emphasized the importance of imparting knowledge that leaves a lasting impact on their lives.

Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC, concluded the formal proceedings with a presidential address, following which Ms. Rego offered a vote of thanks. The celebrations continued with fun games organized for the faculty.
