Cracking Emergencies When Seconds Count: EMERGENCY NEUROCON at Father Muller

Mangaluru: The Department of Emergency Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Neurology at Father Muller Medical College, hosted EMERGENCY NEUROCON on 21st June 2025 at the Decennial Memorial Hall, Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), Mangaluru. Centered around the theme “Cracking Emergencies When Seconds Count,” the CME aimed to enhance the decision-making skills of healthcare professionals in handling time-critical neurological emergencies.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Emeritus Dr I.G. Bhat, senior neurologist and Chief Guest, who stressed the importance of continuous learning and practical training in neuro care. “The brain is the most precious organ, and even seconds matter in its care. We must be ever prepared,” he remarked, encouraging the delegates and speakers.

Rev. Fr Faustine Luca Lobo, Director of FMCI, presided over the function. In his presidential address, he underlined the significance of time management not only in medical emergencies but in all aspects of life. “In neurology, a few minutes’ delay can mean the difference between life and disability. I urge the delegates to absorb not just the knowledge here but also the spirit and legacy of our 145-year-old institution,” he added, inviting attendees to explore the FMCI campus.

Welcoming the gathering, Dr Raghavendra B.S. described the CME as a valuable platform for delegates from across Karnataka to gain insights into FMCI’s comprehensive approach to neurological emergencies, with the goal of replicating such excellence in their own practices.

The sessions were compered by Dr Niveditha (Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine).
