Cancer awareness talk held at Modankap
Mangaluru: Sparsha – Campaign against Cancer, an awareness talk was held at Modankap, for SHG members on August 25.
Ms Rita Dsouza, Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Ms Shilpa Dsouza spoke on Cancer. In her talk she mentioned aboute various types of Cancer, and its causes. She stated that tobacco increases heart rate and blood pressure. Due to consumption of tobacco more than 10 lakh people lose their life every year. Participants were advised not to consume tobacco products, junk food, and to stop drinking alcohol. They were told to do exercise like walking, jogging and yoga which could help them to stay healthy. Consuming organic vegetables and fruits would also help in maintaining good health. At the end she stated there are many people who have battled against Cancer and won! Therefore, we should not lose hope in life, because through self-confidence anything can be achieved.
Ms Shilpa also spoke about ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. She advised the participants to follow social distancing, Wear mask and also use sanitizers regularly. By following this we can control the disease up to a certain extent. After the session, Food kits were distributed to all SHG members present by the Parish Priest of Modankap Fr.Valerian Dsouza. The food-kits were sponsored by The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation and Snehasadan Kinnikambla. Total participants were 26. The program came to an end at 12.00 noon.
