‘Bizathon 2025’: A Platform for Budding Entrepreneurs at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur

April 26, 2025

Puttur, April 25, 2025: The Department of Business Administration at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, successfully hosted ‘Bizathon 2025’, a unique student-led fest designed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking, analytical acumen, and collaborative problem-solving skills among BBA students. The event provided a dynamic learning platform where students engaged with real-world business challenges in an experiential setting.

Exclusively crafted for BBA students, ‘Bizathon 2025’ featured a variety of competitive events, including Business Debate, Corporate Role Play, Treasure Hunt, Business Quiz, Mad Ads, and more. The highlight of the fest was the Bizathon Challenge — an intensive four-hour task where student teams were given a real-time business problem and tasked with devising innovative, practical solutions. This challenge fostered critical and lateral thinking, teamwork, and time-bound decision-making.

Presiding over the event, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, applauded the department’s efforts to blend theory with practice through such “mind-work” engagements. In his presidential address, he remarked:
“Hackathons are not merely competitions; they are launchpads where ideas take shape. They train students to perform under pressure, to convert ambiguity into clarity, and to transform challenges into opportunities. The solution you build today might become tomorrow’s enterprise. Such events cultivate crucial skills like collaborative participation, time management, stress handling, and practical problem-solving, which are essential for future entrepreneurs.”

Dr Monteiro also announced the launch of a new academic program, BBA in Business Analytics, from the upcoming academic year. Tailored to meet industry demands, the program aims to bridge the gap between undergraduate education and enterprise needs. The curriculum will integrate modern analytics with core business principles, offering modules in data visualization, machine learning, statistical modeling, and hands-on industry engagement through internships, live projects, and workshops. This initiative is set to provide students with immersive, real-world training aligned with data-driven decision-making and ethical business practices.

The inaugural ceremony began with a welcome address by Priya K. The vote of thanks was proposed by Likhith R., and Anagha compered the event.

Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Chief Coordinator of the fest, provided an overview of the event and praised the enthusiasm and active participation of the students. He emphasized how such platforms reflect the department’s commitment to shaping industry-ready graduates.

The event was coordinated by Ms Pushpa N., Co-ordinator of the Management Association. Mr Prashanth Rai, Assistant Professor, and Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Deputy Controller of Examinations, provided valuable guidance and mentorship to the students throughout the fest.

The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, celebrating the creativity, innovation, and teamwork demonstrated by the participants.
