An Outreach Program and Session on Mobile Phones held at BEM Moegling School by St Agnes College Students

Mangaluru, 18 Jan 2025: An outreach program was held by the students of the BCA department in collaboration with the computer club. It was a privilege to visit BEM Moegling School to present an engaging skit and session on the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones. The event was an enriching experience for both the presenters and the students.

The day commenced with a warm welcome from the students of BEM Moegling School, who greeted us with a melodious prayer song. Following this, Computer Club Secretary Ms Crystal welcomed everyone and provided a brief introduction to the events of the day, along with a quick overview of St. Agnes College.

Vasishta Rai, BCA Vice President, energized the crowd with an interactive and engaging talk, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by a captivating skit put together by our BCA students, which highlighted the pros and cons of smartphones. The skit also provided a comparison between life in the ’90s and the present, before and after the invention of mobile phones. The narration in the skit, in particular, was one of the standout moments of the performance, keeping the audience engaged and entertained.

An insightful session discussing the benefits of mobile phones and the potential dangers of misuse was led by Sheethal and Hriswi. They emphasized the importance of setting boundaries while using technology. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and sharing their thoughts.

The Computer Club students then took over to organize games for the children, ensuring that everyone had a fun and enjoyable time. The games were well received, and it was heartwarming to see the children so engaged and happy.

To express their gratitude, a ma’am from the school delivered a heartfelt thanksgiving speech, acknowledging the effort and contributions made by all involved. The event concluded on a high note with an energetic dance session, where both the presenters and the students danced together to the popular “Tamatar” song, leaving everyone with smiles on their faces.

Overall, it was a day filled with learning, fun, and interaction, making the event a memorable experience for both the students and the presenters.
