A healthy body holds a healthy Soul and Mind!
Mangaluru: It’s always said that if health is lost, everything is lost. And one of the root causes for Cancer is unhealthy life style. It’s very important to protect our health and take precautions before we fall into illness. Taking this into consideration, team of Sparsha (CODP) has taken an initiative not only to create awareness on Kitchen and Nutrient gardens but also start one at Rusemp, Pakshikere.
Fr Vincent, Designate Director of CODP addressed the staff and spoke on the importance of kitchen garden and its impact on health. Work began at 10.00 am on 1st July 2020; staff had identified suitable land for the kitchen garden. Levelling of the yard was done and variety of seeds such as Okra, Ash Pumpkin, Radish, Tomato, Bitter gourd and Marigold were sown. Banana saplings were also planted on another side of the yard. Jeans grow bags were stitched by Mr.Joseph and Okra seeds were sown in the grow bags. This was done in order to promote cotton grow bags, and encourage people to cultivate vegetables through grow bags in their own houses.
Staff were motivated to grow vegetables organically at their homes and also promote the same in their own working areas. By practicing organic farming we can always reduce the risk of Cancer and other diseases. Work was winded up at 4.00 pm. Ms Shilpa co-coordinator of Sparsha project thanked all for making this work possible through their hard labour.
