Women’s Day Celebration at St Agnes PU College, Mangaluru

March 13, 2024

Mangaluru: Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St Agnes PU College on March 11, 2024, to honor the achievements and contributions of women in all walks of life.

The program commenced with a session on “A Holistic Approach to Health and Wellness.” Dr Sr Severine Menezes SAP, Director of the Counseling Centre, Mulki, was the resource person. The insightful session focused on addressing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health, emphasizing the importance of self-care and well-being for women. Dr Sr Severine highlighted how it is women who give strength to their families and sustain them in times of turbulence. She taught a few EFT techniques to alleviate physical pain and emotional distress. Mr Joel, Lecturer in Physics, welcomed and introduced Dr Sr Severine, while Mrs Jyoti, Lecturer in Humanities, rendered the vote of thanks.

This was followed by an informal program skillfully organised by the male faculty, who went out of their way to salute their female colleagues and make them feel cherished. Mr Francis welcomed all the women and compered the program. A floral welcome and special cards highlighting the unique aspects of each female staff member set the ball rolling. Spot games and a melodious song by Mr Joel enlivened the session.

The Women’s Day celebration was a resounding success and was appreciated by everyone. The event underscored the institution’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.

Mrs PV Shobha, lecturer in Hindi, extended heartfelt thanks for making the day’s event memorable. Refreshments and a delectable fellowship meal added lustre to the occasion.

The principal, Sr Norine D’Souza, and the Vice Principal Sr Janet Sequiera, remain committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment at the institution.
