Valedictory pragram of the online certificate course in Research Methods held at St Agnes College
Mangaluru: The valedictory function of the online certificate course in Research Methods in Chemical Sciences was organized on 7th October, 2021 at 5.30p.m. via Google meet. The chief Guest of the valedictory function was Dr Arun M Isloor Professor, Department of Chemistry, NITK, Surathkal. M/S Neha Pradeep Kumar was the master of the ceremony, who well managed the entire program. M/S Reshel Rodrigues lead the group in prayer with an English prayer song. During the welcome address of the function, Dr.Geetha Pinto, introduced the Chief Guest of the Program Dr Arun Isloor, who has achieved and contributed a lot to the society through the field of applied and medicinal chemistry. She also welcomed the President Sr Dr Venissa AC, Principal of St. Agnes College. And Sr Dr Vinora AC, the PG Coordinator, the entire teaching faculty and the members who attended the online certificate course, for almost 30 hours.
Sr Dr Venissa, delivered the presidential address in which she quoted the importance of research in our developing country. She also mentioned about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, where India is witnessing the revolution through education. She appreciated the members for making a good choice of attending this course which will contribute to all the future plans. She also added that each individual is able to shape the learning curves with passion and a willingness to learn. She congratulated the participants for having completed the certificate course of research methods in chemical sciences successfully.
An online group photograph was taken following which the chief guest addresses the participants. He recalled his time of post graduation and PhD during which there were no such certificate courses, not even resource persons to guide in the field. He was appreciating the number of participants attending the course even after so many days of the commencement of the program. He emphasized to continue this seriousness even in the future. He shared five points of Research ethics, which he felt that they were lacking in the schedule of the course. He imparted the importance of respecting the persons and the scientific communities, by acknowledging the people, by integrating and maintaining the confidentiality of the one’s research done in the past. He emphasized the importance of having the originality and not to cross 10-12% plagiarism by using appropriate apps. He concluded his speech, by quoting in the words of Sir Thomas Alva Edison, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Then during the feedback session, M/S Vidhya summarizes the entire course and appreciated the hands on experience of the assignments given. Mr. Gagan was happy about the present focus, of not only scholastic but also in terms of future. M/S Sneha sunny added her views of this session and thanked sir for sharing the various citations in order to master various search engines. Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by M/S Jinkle following which announcements were made about the certificate course.
