Udupi: St John the Evangelist church celebrates community day

Udupi, Nov. 21: Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was offered at the community day at St John the Evangelist church. 

During the felicitation programme the chief guest Fr Herald Pereira (diocesan director for Small Christian Community) appreciated the parish community for having taken key interest to build up action Small Christian Community in the parish. 

He also lauded the hard work put in by the parishioners to organize this great event. 

In his presidential address the parish priest Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves invited the gather community to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ and be messengers of service. 

On this occasion the Gurkars, convenors of 18 commissions were honoured. Mr. Joseph Castelino (convenor of SCC) presented the report of Small Christian community. 
Mr Mark Vaz, vice president of parish council welcomed the gathering, on this occasion. Fr. Paul Rego parish priest holy cross church, Pamboor, Fr Royson Fernandes, asst. priest Pangla, Fr Vincent Coelho, principal, St John’s PUCollege, Fr Romeo Lewis, Sr Precilla, Mrs Simmy D’Souza, Mr Joseph Castelino were present on the dias. 

Mrs Clara Mendonca proposed the vote of thanks, Walston D’Sa and Flavia Menezes compeered the programme. 

Cultural events from the various wards were held. Mr John Rodrigues, chairman cultural committee, compered the cultural programme, sumptuous meal was served. 

More than 1500 devotees witnessed the programme.
