May 19, 2025

Kasaragod, May 17, 2025: In a heartwarming moment, Mr. Giri, a resident of Perumandi North Street in Melkavaeri village, Tanjavur district, was happily reunited with his family on May 15, 2025, after being missing for six months. The reunion, made possible by Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Kasaragod, brought immense joy to his father, mother, and two sisters.

Mr. Giri, who is unmarried, had been struggling with mental health issues for the past two years. Despite undergoing treatment, his condition did not improve as he was not taking his prescribed medication. This was not the first time he had gone missing. On March 22, 2025, he was admitted to Snehalaya Charitable Trust. His admission was facilitated by Mr. Eshwar Malpe—popularly known as “Aqua Man”—a self-taught underwater searcher and the “Proud Son of Karnataka,” whose efforts played a key role in helping Mr. Giri receive care.

After receiving comprehensive treatment at Snehalaya, Mr. Giri was transferred to the Shraddha Foundation on April 11, 2025, for continued care and support. Following weeks of dedicated effort, the trust successfully reunited him with his family.

His father, a painter, and the rest of the family, who live in poverty, were overjoyed at his return. The residents of Melkavaeri village joined in the celebration, offering a warm welcome to Mr. Giri. To aid in his recovery, he was provided with a two-month supply of medication for aftercare. The community’s positive response reflected the village’s spirit of unity and compassion.

This reunion highlights the commendable work of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, which has reunited over 1,600 individuals with their families across the country. It also underscores the vital role of caring citizens like Eshwar Malpe and the transformative power of community support in bringing families back together.
