The Festival of Lights celebrated at CODP
Mangaluru: “Deepavali” also called festival of lights was celebrated by CODP Staff on 17th November in CODP-ISD Mangaluru. The program was presided by Rev. Fr Oswald Monteiro, the Director of CODP.
The programme commenced with a prayer and welcome note by Mrs Lydia Moras. Signifying ‘Deepavali – the festival of lights’ the dignitaries and staff members lit up the diyas that were placed amid a flower-decorated rangoli.
Rev. Fr Xavier Gomes, Former Principal of St. Philomena College, Puttur; Rev. Fr Vincent DSouza, Designate Director of CODP, Mrs Reena DCosta, Coordinator of Educare Trust and Mrs Mamatha, Animator of CODP were present on the dais.
Fr Oswald Monteiro, in his speech said that Deepavali is the festival of lights and that we should also shine and spread light among others. He then blessed this festival and wished happiness in every one’s life.
Mrs Reena in her message said that Deepavali festival signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. These shining lights remind us to seek wisdom, to give thanks, and to always cherish and love the ones who grace our lives.
Rev. Fr Xavier Gomes and Rev. Fr Vincent DSouza wished all participants Happy Deepavali and also peace, prosperity and goodness of this festival.
Mrs Mamatha explained the meaning and importance of Deepavali festival. She said that this festival brings oneness, equality and happiness to everyone’s life.
Mrs Revathi, Animator of CODP compered the program and Mrs Vani proposed the Vote of Thanks.
