St Philomena College (Autonomous) Yaksha Vahini Cultural Extension Program Held at Kedambadi

Puttur, October 8: St Philomena College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Indian Classical and Folk Arts Study Centre, “Yaksha Kalakendra,” and the NS Kille Trust, organized a cultural extension program, ‘Moksha Sangrama ‘Yakshagana performance. The event took place on Sunday evening at the Sadguru Gopalan Nair Auditorium on Kedambadi Sanyasi Hill.

The event, part of a cultural outreach initiative under a memorandum of understanding between Yaksha Kalakendra and NS Kille Trust, highlighted the significance of spreading cultural knowledge and engagement in the adopted village of Kedambadi. The Yakshagana performance, Moksha Sangrama, was presented by the students and resource persons from the study center.

Prashant Rai Mundalaguttu, Director of Yaksha Kalakendra, elaborated on the cultural extension activities of the Center. Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the college, spoke on the collaboration with the NS Kille Trust, emphasizing the goal of promoting literature and culture.

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College, commended the efforts in expanding cultural and literary outreach, urging everyone to participate in initiatives that enhance social well-being.

The Yakshagana performance was sponsored by the family of Mundalaguttu Eshwara Alva in his fond memory. The event was graced by esteemed guests: senior Yakshagana accompanists Padyaana Shankara Narayana Bhat and Padyaana Jayarama Bhat, Jayashankar Rai Bedrumaara, president of Shrirama Bhajana Mandira, along with other notables Mohan Alva Mundalaguttu, Santosh Kumar Rai Koranga, Karunakar Rai Koranga, Suresh Rai Mundalaguttu, Vijayakumar Rai Koranga, Kailas Kedambadi, and Raghav Gowda Keremule.
