St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur Concludes Educational Rural Camp at Kanakamajalu
Kanakamajalu, Puttur, 25 June 2025: The Educational Rural Camp 2025, organized by the Postgraduate Department of Social Work, St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, concluded with a meaningful valedictory ceremony held at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Primary School, Mugeru, ManiMajalu. The event marked the culmination of a week-long celebration of community spirit, leadership, and social engagement through immersive rural experiences.
Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College, presided over the ceremony. In his address, he emphasized the transformative impact of rural camps in nurturing responsible leadership and fostering meaningful human connections. “The success of any program hinges on the cooperation of the local community,” he noted, while acknowledging the wholehearted support of the village residents and the school’s development committee. He also inspired students with reflections on instilling values that shape children into conscientious citizens.
Mr. Nagappa Bommetti, retired high school teacher and chief guest, lauded the camp for promoting foundational human values. He praised the college for its longstanding tradition of discipline and academic excellence.








Mr. Anand Master, another chief guest, expressed appreciation for the initiative and urged students to internalize the values presented in Mankuthimma Kagga, a revered Kannada literary work known for its philosophical depth. “Such camps offer a rare chance for students to live those values through real-world experiences,” he said.

Each guest shared heartfelt messages, commending the students’ active participation and the organizers’ dedicated efforts.
A touching segment of the ceremony featured reflections by Mrs. Shubha P.G. (teacher), Ms. Dhanushree Palatadka (parent), Mr. Indresh Korambaradka (senior student), and Ms. Sneha Rose Jacob, who spoke about their enriching camp experiences.
Prizes were distributed to school children and to winners of various competitions held during the camp, adding a festive and motivational note to the conclusion.
The camp report was presented by Mrs. Pratibha, Camp Officer, who detailed the key activities and accomplishments of the initiative. Mr. Sheetal Kumar extended a warm welcome to all guests at the beginning of the event, while Mrs. Srimani, Camp Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks.
The program was efficiently compered by Ms. Ganyapratrashi, Ms. Vaishnavi, and Ms. Tejashwini, adding a youthful energy to the proceedings.
