October 4, 2024

Puttur, 4 October 2024: In an effort to raise awareness about the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the Post Graduate Department of Social Work and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of Saint Philomena Autonomous College organized a comprehensive outreach program at Kedambady Gram Panchayat on Monday.

The program, part of the adopted village project college, saw active participation from local leaders and residents. Panchayat Development Officer Mr Ajith G. K., Vice President Ms Jayalakshmi B., Panchayat members Mr Praveen Shetty and Mr Ratan Rai, along with administrative staff, faculty from St Philomena College, and the NSS volunteers, were present for the event.

Following the awareness session, the participants, including the volunteers and local leaders, took to the streets, visiting homes and shops in the town. This door-to-door campaign aimed to identify eligible beneficiaries of the MGNREGS and provide them with vital information regarding the types of individual works they could undertake under the scheme, as well as the grants available for such activities.

The awareness drive was organized under the coordination of Mr Praveen D., the coordinator of the adoption village project St Philomena College, who led the efforts to ensure that residents of Kedambadi Gram Panchayat were well-informed about the opportunities provided by the MGNREGS.
