St Joseph Engineering College’s four BE programmes re-accrediated, launches ‘MELODIUM’ Studio

Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, is happy to announce the Re-Accreditation of four of its B.E. Programs by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, for three years, from July 2022 to June 2025. The NBA Expert Team visited the college from 1-3 July 2022. The team rigorously assessed the four B.E. programs: Computer Science & Engg, Mechanical Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg and Electronics & Communication Engg. They have appreciated the Infrastructure, Management, Faculty, Student Contributions and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices adopted in the college. In addition, the B.E. program in Civil Engg., and MBA programs were also accredited in 2021 for the three academic years. Moreover, SJEC has been awarded the prestigious A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for five years till 22 February 2026. With a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.39 on a 4-point scale, SJEC has joined the elite list of colleges accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC in its first cycle.

SJEC is an Autonomous Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka State, and is recognized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. SJEC has been conferred Fresh Autonomous Status from the Academic Year 2021-22. The college is committed to offering education of the highest quality to all its students. The college is completing 20 years of existence and currently has more than 2500 students on campus. To explore diverse topics on current developments in Civil Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering is hosting the International Conference on “Novel Sustainable Concepts and Technologies in Civil Engineering (NSCTCE 2022)” on 23-25 September 2022.

The conference will contribute to advances in Civil Engineering, building materials and structural engineering, water resources and geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering and environmental engineering. On this occasion, 12 renowned keynote speakers from India and abroad are invited to deliver their research works in various fields of Civil Engineering, making it a valuable source of information for both researchers and engineers in practice. Around 90 abstracts are received for the present conference, of which 50 plus articles are selected for full-length presentation at NSCTCE-2022. Selected articles will be published in IOP: Earth and Environmental Sciences.

St Joseph Engineering College – Mangaluru has recently launched its newly developed facility, MELODIUM – The SJEC Studio. It is a uniquely designed, one of its kind, state-of-the-art audio recording facility in Mangalore, primarily catering to the needs of local talents in the fields of art, music, and audio technology. The space also finds use for faculty and staff in developing innovative teaching and training content. The facility is open to the general public seeking a space to create music and any audio-related content.

Melodium is built on a 970 sq. ft floor space and has two spacious recording rooms of 470 sq. ft and 230 sq. ft. It is equipped with industry-standard equipment from Neumann, AKG, Shure, QSC, Kali Audio, Apple and has enough to cater to all recording needs. One could record an entire band all at once, in this space. Through this state-of-the-art facility, Melodium offers services to people looking to create content in music and audio. Be it audio/music recording, dialogue dubbing, editing, mixing and mastering. The facility also houses a green screen for video recording purposes.

Mr Melroy Furtado, an alumnus of AR Rahman’s KM College of Music and Technology, Chennai, and a popular musician in the Mangaluru music circuit, has been brought on board as the Consultant Sound Engineer. The studio is open to all composers, musicians, content creators, enthusiasts, and well-wishers. SJEC welcomes everyone to bring their thoughts and ideas to create their masterpieces at MELODIUM!
