St Joseph Engineering College celebrates its College Day

Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, celebrated its College Day on 22 March 2025 on the college campus. Shri. Melwyn Prakash Noronha, Principal, District Government Pleader, Christian Marriage Registrar & Notary, was the chief guest on the occasion. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC, presided over the programme. 

Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC, presented the annual report of the college. Dr. Purshottama Chippar, Vice Principal, SJEC Introduced the Chief Guest & welcomed the gathering to the occasion. The Guest, along with the President, distributed various excellence awards in sports and academics. The university-level rank holders and faculty achievements were also honoured. 

Shri M. P. Noronha spoke about excitement in addressing the elite group of budding professionals. He appreciated the awards received by the faculties and students for the quality of talents in the institution. He said students have got the potential, but the real magic is of the teachers who get this potential out and show it to the world. He congratulated the institution for becoming one of the top institutions in the state. He further added that the negatives in our life should not stop individuals from focusing on the positives around them. He highlighted the real triangle of success—knowledge, skills, and attitude, which can be the real essence of success.

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, the Director of SJEC, congratulated the achievers for their outstanding achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. He said that education is more than textbooks & exams; it’s about the challenges we face in life through the character we build along the journey. He said that success becomes more meaningful only when it can uplift others. Your small efforts can make a big impact in someone’s life. He also insisted the students build a sense of gratitude in life. 

Dr Ravikantha Prabhu, convener of the event, delivered the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director of SJEC; various Deans & HODs and Dr Sunitha Prasad, co-convener of the programme were also present during the occasion. Mr Aldrin Sean Periera and Ms Shiji Abraham compered the formal programme. 

A cultural extravaganza followed the formal event, with the students displaying their wonderful music and dancing skills along with the thrilling performance from the Band Diamonds & Rust. The cultural program was compered by Jaden Dsouza & Deona Rego.
