Skilling program on “IDEA LAB EQUIPMENTS AND TOOLS” successfully organized at St Joseph Engineering College
Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru in association with SJEC AICTE IDEA LAB organized a five days Skilling program on “IDEA LAB EQUIPMENTS AND TOOLS” from November 28th to December 2nd 2022 for the students of various diploma colleges in Mangalore region. A total of 155 students from various diploma colleges registered for the program and actively participated during the 5 days schedule in multiple batches.
The Organizing committee has been actively involved in planning and organizing this skill oriented workshop. Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice principal, Dean R&D and Coordinator of idea lab welcomed the gathering and Mr Yathish Kumar K briefed about the activities of Idea lab in the introductory session. Dr Ravikantha Prabhu, Mr Vijay V S, Mr Yathish Kumar K, Mr Rajesh Belchada, Mr Rohith Prakash Veigas, Ms Avila Pinto, Ms Madhavi Gatty and Ms Vishika Keshav conducted different sessions as resource persons of the program. Mr Deekshith, Mr Harshith Ms Chaithra K and Mr Praveen demonstrated the working of different machines and guided the participants as Tech Gurus.
This program aimed at understanding and applying the latest advances in manufacturing processes using idea lab equipment and tools. The program focused on training the participants on the Softwares like SOLID WORKS, TINKERCAD, ART CAM, CREALITY, LIGHTBURN etc. which is primarily used to create designs of the model or product to be developed. The program was also dedicated to hands-on training and model building using 3D printer, 3D scanner, Laser cutting machine and CNC wood router machine respectively. The program was organized in a project based learning (PBL) model and the participants successfully demonstrated their skill by making a simple project at the end of each day of the FDP.
The valedictory session was organized at the end of each day of the 5 days program for students discussing their experience and learnings from the program. Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Assistant Director, SJEC and Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice principal presented the memento to the faculties of diploma college during the program for being part of the program and appreciated the efforts put by the students in making the skilling program more meaningful to showcase the skills learnt during the program.
