SJEC organized the inaugural of induction program for batch 2024–25
Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, organized an inaugural programme of the Student Induction Program (SIP) 2024 for BE students of batch 2024–25 on August 26, 2024, at the Kalam Auditorium of the campus at 9:00 a.m. Dr Rajesh PC, convener of the program, welcomed the gathering. The programme was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal, SJEC, addressed the gathering and shared wisdom about adopting engineering in everything they do in their day-to-day routine. He highlighted the importance of working in teams and being united. He emphasized the importance of the era of AI, having more exposure to AI, and the state-of-the-art facilities at SJEC. He further said that the senior faculties are accessible for all kinds of mentorship and guidance at the college. He told the students about the variety of events scheduled at SIP 2024 and how to make the best use of them to showcase their talents.
Rev. Fr. Kenneth R. Crasta, Assistant Director, SJEC, mentioned in his address using resources as much as possible—online modules, student technical clubs, college facilities., etc.—to make themselves evolve to become a better version. Students who learn by themselves can be better experts. He shared his own experience of learning things by doing, with a few examples.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC Shared his experience with a few instances of how the experiences, knowledge, and skills help to shape our lives into something valuable. He further added that the SIP is the beginning of the journey of four years of engineering, and the world outside is evolving at an unprecedented pace. The students should be the catalysts for it, take every challenge as an opportunity, never settle for anything in mediocrity, and be the engineers of solutions.
Dr Sudheer M., Dean of Academics, explained the importance of following academic guidelines in the engineering journey. With an example, he explains that when an engineer says there is good business happening, it means there is a lot of development happening in the region or society. He advised students on how to use their time effectively and on the power of peer learning. He highlighted the disadvantages of extensive use of gadgets and having too much screen time.
Dr Purushottama Chippar, Vice Principal & Dean of R&D, congratulated & appreciated the participation of a huge number of teams in the Smart India Hackathon 2024. He highlighted the importance of knowledge, attitude, and skill and advised the students to focus on skill development to have a bright and secure future. He gave the idea of the concept of knowledge economy to students, which is possible only through gaining good skills.
Dr Ramananda HS speech briefed students about the role of his office in maintaining discipline and the participation of students in extracurricular activities. He highlighted the importance of NSS, NCC, and sports facilities at SJEC. He also explained the support facilities such as the anti-ragging committee, dispensary, campus counselor, library with digital facilities, drinking water, green and clean campus, spacious parking, canteen & cafeteria, etc.
Dr Jyothi, FY coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme witnessed the participation of various heads of department, deans, and faculty members.
