SJEC hosts the grand inaugural ceremony of 2024 IEEE DISCOVER, the 8th edition of the IEEE International Conference
Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, proudly hosted the 8thedition of the IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing, VLSI, Electrical Circuits, and Robotics, in short, IEEE DISCOVER 2024, on 18th and 19th October, 2024. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Kalam auditorium on October 18th at 10 a.m. The event started with a prayer by the college choir team. Dr. C. P. Ravikumar, Director of Technical Talent, Development at Texas Instruments, Bangalore, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal, SJEC, and General Chair of IEEE DISCOVER 2024, welcomed the gathering. During his speech, he said that IEEE DISCOVER has been a meaningful and productive initiative over the past few years. He also highlighted the chief guest, Dr C. P. Ravikumar, who has been associated with SJEC for the past few years on behalf of IQAC, and he mentioned that he is honored to welcome Dr Ravikumar as chief guest.
Dr. Vasudeva, Professor, NMAMIT, Nitte, Chair 2024, IEEE Mangalore Sub Section, Senior Member of IEEE, mentioned in his speech that he was associated with all editions of IEEE DISCOVER and he is so happy for being a part of this event as well. He proudly announced that up to the 2030 IEEE DISCOVER event is being booked by different hosts.
Dr Sridevi Saralaya, Professor & HOD of Computer Science Department, Organizing Chair of the conference, introduced the chief guest in brief. With a strong background in engineering and education, Dr. Ravikumar played a key role in shaping the technical capabilities of TI’s workforce, contributing to innovation and growth in the semiconductor industry. He is also known for his contributions to academia and technical publications, helping bridge the gap between industry and education.
Dr C. P. Ravikumar, during his inaugural speech, expressed his gratitude for inviting him for the conference as chief guest, as he was so eager to visit the SJEC campus. He pointed out the necessity of having in-person gatherings in the current cyber world. He appreciated the fact that there has been a revolutionary change in technology as well as science in the past few decades. He encouraged the younger generation to take advantage of the technology at their disposal and turn it into something beneficial.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza., Director, SJEC, delivered the presidential address, and Dr Harivinod N, Organizing Chair—2024 of IEEE DISCOVER, delivered the vote of thanks. The event witnessed the presence of various HOD’s, Deans, faculty members, and students of SJEC, along with participants and delegates from industries as well as neighboring institutions. The conference IEEE DISCOVER 2024 was formally inaugurated by releasing a book of abstracts of all the research papers, followed by a keynote address by Dr C. P. Ravikumar about the topic, DISCOVERY of Technology: Past, Present, and Future.
