Senior Citizens Day celebrated at Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi
Mangaluru: Senior Citizens Day was celebrated at Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi, on Sunday, 27th October, with great fun and frolic. Around 100 elders of the parish participated in the celebration, and about 35 of them were in their homes. At 10.30 am, solemn Mass was celebrated in the church by Fr. Dominic Vas, the parish priest, and Fr. Cyril Menezes concelebrating with him.
During the homily, Fr. Dominic Vas gave a beautiful message on how the elders should grow gracefully, joyfully, and healthily. We have to be optimistic, positive, always keeping ourselves busy, both our mind and body, with good reading, exercise, hobbies, gardening, travel, meeting friends, etc.
For the short cultural program that followed, Smt. Tanveen Shah, nominated Comporator of Mangalore City Corporation, was the chief guest. She was honoured during the program, and in her message she wished the elders with good health, peace, joy, and happiness in life. She congratulated the parishioners for organising such a meaningful program for the elders.
The program began with a prayer song sung by the parish youth choir. PPC Vice President Sri. Prakash Saldanha welcomed the gathering. Spectacular dances were performed by the children and YCS youth. The parish choir felicitated the elders through a beautiful song. Fr. Dominic Vas gave some tips to the Elders on how to live joyfully through a song of Wilfy Rebimbus. Few games were conducted by Joseph Mascarenhas, and prizes were distributed. The benefactors of the day were honoured. Very good quality umbrellas were gifted to all the elders.
Molly Rodrigues thanked all those who organised the program. Rikita Pais compered the program. Finally, a sumptuous lunch was served to all sponsored by Santhosh Caterers in memory of their dad, Mr. Augustine Veigas.
