Rotary-Rickshaw: Enabling Better Vision – Eye Checkup Camp at Father Muller
Mangaluru: The Department of Ophthalmology at Father Muller Medical College Hospital, in association with the Rotary Club of Mangalore Midtown, organized a free eye checkup camp on 24th May 2025 at the Ophthalmology OPD, Father Muller Medical College Hospital. The camp was specifically conducted for transport professionals of Dakshina Kannada.
Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the inaugural function and delivered the presidential address. Dr. Antony Sylvan Dsouza, Dean of Father Muller Medical College, and Dr. Uday Kumar, Medical Superintendent of FMMCH, were present at the inauguration.
Rotarian Ralf Dsouza, President of the Rotary Club of Mangalore Midtown, along with club members, addressed the gathering and emphasized how regular vision screening for transport professionals can help reduce the risk of accidents and benefit society at large.

















Representatives from auto and bus drivers’ associations, the primary beneficiaries of the camp, were also present. Free Health Checkup cards were distributed, with Mr. Thomas, a representative of the Auto Drivers’ Association from Kulshekar, receiving the first card.
As part of this initiative, the eye checkup camp will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month for a period of one year. Additional benefits include:
- Free registration and a Father Muller Health Card valid for one year for all hospital services
- Concessions on ophthalmology procedures
- Spectacles at subsidized rates
Dr. Sarita R. J. Lobo, Professor and Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Apoorva compered the programme.
