Philo Carnival 2025 Valedictory Ceremony at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur
Puttur, 3 May 2025: The valedictory ceremony of Philo Carnival 2025, the Postgraduate Fest of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, was held with much fanfare at the Silver Jubilee Hall on Tuesday. The event was graced by Mrs Violet Nataliya Pinto, Proprietor of Imperial Furniture, Puttur, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Pinto motivated the students to take active part in such fests, saying they are a golden opportunity to build essential life and professional skills. “Winning is secondary; participation and learning are what matter most,” she said, striking a chord with the young minds.
Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, Registrar (Academics) of the college, presided over the ceremony. In his presidential address, he echoed a similar sentiment, urging students to grab every opportunity that comes their way and to focus on personal growth through co-curricular activities.











Also seated on the dais were Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Coordinator of the Department of Mathematics; Mrs Srimani, Head of the PG Department of Social Work; Mr Vipin Naik, Head of the PG Department of Physics; and Mr Harshith, Head of the PG Department of Commerce.
Jointly organised by the PG Departments of Social Work, MSc Physics, Mathematics, and M.Com, the fest was a colourful mela of talent and ideas. Around 34 teams from various postgraduate colleges in and around Puttur participated enthusiastically, making it a lively and enriching affair.
In the Social Work category, Akshaya College, Puttur lifted the Overall Champions Trophy, while Government First Grade College, Sullia walked away with the Runner-up title.
In the M.Sc. Physics and Mathematics category, Vivekananda College, Puttur bagged the Championship, and Alva’s College, Moodbidri secured the Runner-up position.
In the M.Com stream, Akshaya College, Puttur again emerged as the Overall Champion, with Vivekananda College, Puttur being declared Runner-up.
The programme was well attended by faculty members and students from various departments. Saranya gave a warm welcome, Rachel steered the programme as the compère with poise, and Neha delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all who worked behind the scenes and those who made the fest a roaring success.
