“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Mangaluru: The students of St Aloysius PU College had the privilege of meeting Mr. Babar Ali, renowned as the youngest headmaster in the world, and hearing his inspiring journey of determination, compassion, and commitment to education. The session was organised in association with the Ramakrishna Mission.

Mr. Babar Ali, a young educationalist, gained international recognition at the age of 16 when CNN-IBN featured him in its Real Heroes programme and the BBC conferred on him the title of “the youngest headmaster in the world.” His extraordinary achievement—establishing a school, Anand Shiksha Niketan, in his backyard in rural Murshidabad, West Bengal, at the tender age of nine—has transformed the lives of thousands of underprivileged children in the Bhabta community. The Karnataka government has acknowledged his remarkable contribution by including his story in the I PUC English textbook. It was a true honour to host Mr. Babar Ali on campus.

Introducing Mr. Babar Ali, army veteran and Ramakrishna Mission representative Shri Bellala Gopinath Rao spoke about Swami Vivekananda’s vision of education and urged students to draw inspiration from it. He also commended Mr. Ali for the tremendous transformation brought about by his initiative.

In his address, Mr. Babar Ali emphasized the power of one individual to effect change, regardless of age or limited resources. He encouraged students to be socially conscious, take initiative, and never underestimate their ability to make a difference. His humility and simplicity are as impactful as the story of his struggle to provide free education to the underprivileged. Mr. Ali spoke passionately about how Swami Vivekananda’s ideals continue to inspire and strengthen his resolve to empower youth and nurture them as future change-makers.

The students were thrilled to interact with Mr. Babar Ali, asking insightful questions about his challenges, sources of motivation, and his vision for the future of education in India. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Shajith from the Ramakrishna Mission.

St Aloysius PU College will fondly cherish this special event. The visit served as a powerful reminder that true leadership lies in service, courage, and a deep commitment to the betterment of others.
