Mount Carmel Central School observed World Day of the Poor

Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru observed “World Day of the Poor” by visiting the home for the elderly run by the Little Sisters of the Poor and the destitute home of the White Doves on November 17, 2023. The students of grades A and B, along with their mentors, visited these homes.

The programme at both places commenced by invoking God’s blessings on the inmates and their care takers. The students entertained them with a cultural programme and expressed their love for them by sharing fruits and eatables. The mass dance enlivened their spirits. The interaction of the little ones brought tears of joy as they hugged each other. Besides, talking to them in their own mother tongue made the inmates more intimate. At the end of the programme, a short, meaningful message was given by the person in charge, and an inmate expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt way.

One could witness the joy of the inmates as the students entertained and interacted with them. This visit also created awareness in the students to think of the less privileged members of society, to reach out to them in love and compassion, and to be grateful for the love and care they receive from their parents and family members. Indeed, it had a profound positive impact on them.
