Mount Carmel Central School celebrates International Yoga Day

Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21st 2022, keeping in mind the theme “Yoga for Humanity”. It was a serene morning where in during the morning assembly the entire school got involved in the global movement for Health and Wellness through “Yoga for Humanity”.

The programme conducted by Grade III A and B commenced invoking blessings from the Almighty. The students Shreema and Shaden welcomed the chief guest of the day, Shri Shajin Gangadharan, manager, Karnataka Bank, who is also a certified level 3 yoga trainer and an evaluator for the Government of India Ayush department.

The welcome dance by the students induced a sense of oneness among the audience. The significance of the day was well articulated coupled with befitting demonstration of yogasanas. The dances on the theme “yoga” sent a happy stimulant to everyone in the audience. The kindergarten children had a special session on yoga relating to their age. The chief guest Mr Shaji in his speech sighted the benefits of Yoga and to embrace it happily. Principal Sr Melissa spoke about the heritage of yoga and appreciated the efforts of our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji for placing Yoga globally. 

The entire school was made aware of the valuable gift of this ancient tradition – yoga, which embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, harmony between man and nature, peace of mind, health and wellbeing of the entire humanity. Student Ethan delivered a heartfelt note of gratitude. Austin, Rhea Hurtis, Bhoomika and Sathwik compeered the programme.

After the formal programme, the chief guest demonstrated a few yogaasanas to the senior students, mentioning their health benefits and the students did them happily. The celebration winded up by the theme “Yoga for Humanity” etched in everybody’s body, mind and spirit.
