Mangaluru: ‘Innovation day-2020’ organized St. Aloysius College
Mangaluru: The Innovation and IPR cell of St. Aloysius College organized Innovation day-2020 on January 16th, 2020. The innovation day was organized to inspire and foster innovation in students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes.
The inaugural programme of the innovation day was held at 9.00 am at Fr L.F. Rasquinha Hall, LCRI. Dr.Padmavati Manchikanti, Professor & Dean Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur was the Chief Guest. Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of the College presided over the programme. Dr. Lyned D Lasrado, Co-ordinator of Innovation and IPR cell welcomed the gathering. In his presidential, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis said that the students are budding next generation of innovators and creative thinkers. He encouraged them to expand their imagination and creative thinking and embark on the journey of innovation utilizing the facilities provided by the college. Ms. Arathi Shanbhag, Asst. Co-rdinator of Innovation and IPR cell proposed the vote of thanks.
In her key notes address Dr.Padmavati Manchikanti urged the students to develop the spirit of innovation and contribute towards the growth of local and national ecosystem. She emphasized on focusing on specific problems and working towards solving them. She enlightened the students on the concept of Intellectual property and patents, citing various examples.The programme was attended by more than 400 students of various disciplines including science, commerce and management and information technology.
In the morning session various successful entrepreneurs shared their experience and vision with the. In the afternoon session, students pitched their innovative ideas business, product, service or venture. About 30 teams from various streams participated in this event.
