Mangaluru: Awareness on protection of natural resources organized at Padua school
Mangaluru: CODP organized an awareness program on conservation of natural resources at Padua school on February 10th.
Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Director of CODP welcomed the gathering.
Ms. Lenet Gonsalves, Program Manager of CODP being the resource person, explained the need for conserving the existing Natural Resources in order to make it available for the future generations. The Three R’s to save Environment are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
She stressed upon water harvesting methods like trenches, gully plugs, roof water harvesting, desilting of wells, ponds etc. were taught to the students through a slogan ‘Make the running water walk, the walking water to stop, the stopped water to seep inside the earth’.
She said that we can build community structures by using plastic trash and convert them into eco-bricks and use them instead of stones for construction.
She further said that “We should use water sparingly considering draught, grow saplings, save electricity by putting off fans and lights when not required, ride the bicycle or take public transport instead of private vehicles etc.
