Lourdes Central School observes ‘International Yoga Day – 21 June 2022’
Mangaluru: Yoga, an ancient discipline, is one of the best practices you can adopt for both physical and mental well-being. Lourdes Central School celebrated the 8th annual International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Humanity” on 21 June 2022 in the Roof Top Auditorium.
The programme began at 8.30a.m. with the Prayer Song ‘I Have Come To Thee’. Anushka Ganiga of class VIIIA welcomed the gathering.
International Yoga Day 2022 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr Shivaram Rai, Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza, Physical Education Teachers Mr Vishwanath, Ms Triveni and the student representatives of class VIII by lighting the lamp which signifies purity, goodness, prosperity and wisdom.
The Chief Guest Mr Shivaram Rai, the Yoga Practitioner and Yoga Therapist spoke on the occasion and said that by practicing yoga one can control health disorders like stress, vertigo, cardio-vascular disease, indigestion etc and has to be practiced regularly. He stressed on the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ and stated that one has to spread the benefits of yoga. It has to be practiced with devotion and determination for 40-45 minutes a day, by getting up early in the morning, having a balanced diet and good sleep. He wished all the children good health and happiness.
The Principal felicitated the Chief Guest Mr Shivaram Rai, the Yoga Guru with a shawl and flowers.
The Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza addressed the students and said that yoga makes one harmonious with nature and joyful in one’s inner world. He highlighted the importance of yoga and the benefits it offers to the mind and body. He expressed that yoga is the best practice for good health and wished all the students a very happy International Yoga Day.
For students to practice the right way of yoga, the Yoga Guru taught the students of class VIII the following asanas:
Breathing: Todosana, Padahasthosan, Ardha Chakrasan, Trikonasana, Vakrasana, Bujangosana, Salbasana, Savasana; and Yoga Manthra and Shanthi Manthra.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks. Trishitha of class VIIIB compered the programme.
