Lourdes Central School holds the Annual Sports Meet 2024
Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School organised the spectacular Annual Sports Meet 2024 for the Primary Section (Class I-V) on Friday, 8 November 2024, at LCS School Grounds. The dignitaries present on the occasion were the Chief Guest, Dr Mranali Shetty, Dental Surgeon and Associate Professor at the Dept. of Periodontology in Manipal College of Dental Sciences. Rev Fr Johnson L Sequiera, the Principal; Mrs Belita Mascarenhas and Mrs Anitha Thomas, the Vice Principals; Advocate Jackery Furtado, Member of the School Management Committee, escorted by the Convenor Ms Thriveni P, Mr Veerendra Alva, and Mr Vishwanath Devadiga along with the LCS school band.
The inaugural programme began at 8 a.m. with the prayer song “There is a beautiful God Up Above” sung by the school junior choir. This was followed by the school parade headed by the Head Boy H Adesh Rao, the Head Girl Diya N Yashodhar, and the house captains and vice captains with their respective houses marching to the beat of the band. The ‘platoons’ of Lourdites gave a stunning performance through the March Past. The school flag and house flags were ceremonially carried by the cabinet members of the school.
The students gave an impressive spectacle of harmony and discipline through the mass drill. The school band in symphony complemented the drill.
On this joyful occasion, Master Hugh Rasquinha from class 5 delivered the welcome address, and Mrs. Lolita Coelho introduced the chief guest, Dr Mranali Shetty. The chief guest was then felicitated with a token of love and gratitude by the dignitaries on the dais.
The Chief Guest, Dr Mranali Shetty, addressed the gathering and shared her experiences, motivating the students to follow their passion and rejuvenate the spirit of true sportsmanship. She expressed that sports help one to channelize their strength and to be positive. She urged the students to be kind, believe in themselves, and to have a ‘never give up’ attitude.
The chief guest, along with the dignitaries on the dais, felicitated the winners of classes I to V for the various sports events conducted during the sports week 2024.
The House System song was sung with vigor and gusto.
Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequiera, the President of the function, addressed the students and elevated their spirits through the warm-up exercise. He told the students to inculcate a positive spirit and wished them a bright future. Further, he encouraged and congratulated all the teachers, students, and parents of LCS for this event.
Miss Saanvi of class 5 delivered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the closing orchestra and the singing of the school anthem. Mrs. Shanthi Menezes compered the programme.
Mrs. Thriveni P., Mrs. Anitha Pinto, Mr. Vishwanath Devadiga, and Mr. Veerendra Alva were the convenors of the Annual Sports Meet 2024.
