Lourdes Central School holds kindergarten Convocation Day

Mangaluru: The kindergarten Convocation Day was a momentous occasion held at Lourdes Central School grounds on 20th March 2025 at 9:00 am. The environment was filled with excitement as the entire KG section gathered to celebrate the accomplishment and milestones of young learners as they bid farewell to their first academic phase and now move towards a new phase of their life. The event commenced with a warm welcome extended by Ms. Linette Pereira to the guest and all the parents. The dignitaries were brought in with the lively school band playing a grand entry march. The little toddlers were accompanied by their KG teachers along with the guest.

Thereafter, children were escorted to the stage along with the guest, Dr. Loveena Lobo; Manager Rev. Fr. Dr. John Baptist Saldana; Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequiera; Vice-principals Ms. Belita Mascarenhas and Ms. Anita Thomas; and PTEC Vice-president Mr. Mohammed Riyaz. The event began with a prayer song sung melodiously by the students, “Kuda mere tu bakshish kar”. M.C. called her friends to welcome everyone with a welcome dance for the song ‘We Welcome, We Welcome.’ M.C. thanked her friends for welcoming the gathering with a wonderful dance.

The tiny tots of KG1 welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. The KG 1 and play school students welcomed the gathering in a unique way. Fr. Principal escorted the dignitaries to the stage. He introduced the guest, and the manager facilitated the chief guest. Dr Loveena Lobo is an associate professor in the postgraduate department of social work at St. Aloysius (deemed to be a university) and is also the director of Maffei Block (PG Social Science) at St. Aloysius University. She has twenty-four years of teaching experience for the postgraduate students. She has expertise in human behavior, psychiatric social work, mental health, family and child welfare, and social work research. She has conducted two research projects (funded by UGC & management) and has published fifteen research papers in national and international journals. She is also a recognized research supervisor under Mangalore University & is currently guiding 4 research scholars.

 The students of KG 2 A and KG 2 B were felicitated by the chief guest, Ms. Loveena Lobo. Ms. Lydia Dsouza invoked the students with the pledge.

The mesmerizing part of the convocation was the entire KG staff came up on stage to sing beautifully and congratulate the students by singing the song “Congratulations and celebrations on this wonderful day”. Garima Chandel of KG 2A and Ethan Crasta of KG 2B shared their experience of learning and knowledge gained at LCS.

Ms. Rashmi Mischal Miranda, parent of Natlyn Miranda from KG 2A, and Mr. Sumith Amin, parent of Shourya S. Poojary of KG 2B, expressed their thoughts and “Learning Experience” of the child in KG and thanked the kindergarten teachers.

The chief guest of the day, Ms. Loveena Lobo, in her brief speech said that convocation is a reflection; it’s a parent’s duty to frame a positive foundation for their child to become a strong adult. Children must be prepared to grow academically, especially to face the challenges of this technological world. They also must be made aware of the merits and demerits of the internet and phones. Children should learn to be resilient. Parents should guide progress and not restrict it. She also mentioned teaching values of respect and empathy. She also emphasized that parents should build a positive environment’.

After the chief guest address, Fr. Manager Rev. Dr. John Baptist Saldana spoke to the students and asked them to be independent. He addressed the parents and requested them to help the students to build moral and character formation. He also told them it is the duty of the parents to shape the future of their children by helping them cope with the present education system.

The formal program was followed by the cultural program of Dance Drama, which evoked tremendous joy and happiness amongst the entire audience. The dance captivated the parents, and a joyful atmosphere covered the air. Students of KG 2 sang a gratitude song, “Keep smiling, keep shining”.

The convocation was a real memorable event for the KG lourdities and their parents as they felt proud to be a part of the lourdite family and will soon be entering the portal of higher learning. The event was concluded with the school anthem.
