International Yoga Day celebrated at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore
Mangaluru: The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. Delampadi Yoga Foundation, Ayush Yoga, News Karnataka and Decathlon in collaboration with the Student Activity Cell of the college, Physical Education Department, NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross and students of Yoga team organized this event together.
Program Coordinator and Dean of Student Activities Cell, Dr. Ishwara Bhat welcomed the gathering and introduced the importance of International Yoga Day. He stressed everyone to practice Yoga and build a better society. Director of AIMIT Beeri Campus, Rev. Dr. Melwyn S. Pinto inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. In his presidential speech, he spoke on Yoga and explained how yoga became infused with Indian culture. He also said that Yoga can give good mind and health to everyone. All the students were encouraged to practice Yoga into their daily activities and achieve greatness in life through good health.
The Director of Admin Block, Dr Charles Furtado expressed his appreciation for the program and extended his greetings. Mrs. Pratima and staff from News Karnataka Media were present. Two representatives of Decathlon organization participated in the program. Students, staff and faculty members of the College also participated in this program.
The Yoga Director of Delampadi Yoga Foundation, Mrs Neeta Shetty guided everyone in performing different Yogasanas. Mr Arun M. D’Souza, Director of Physical Education of the College proposed the vote of thanks.
